A Paradise Lost 1/19/11
She ate the forbidden fruit,
Knowledge from thy sector.
She tore out her heart,
A gift for the predecessor.
“Don’t judge me,
I’ve given my heart to the tree.”
“Don’t punish me, I’ve given my soul to thee.”
His eyes grasp her, beauty ever so keen,
Staring at her reflection but truly not seeing.
A battle within is a secret with out.
She battles, win or lose, its all for the tree.
“Please don’t defeat me,
Let me bathe in your own secrecy
Teach me the knowledge of thy tree.”
“No matter how you try
Now matter what you give
No matter if you die
Defeated will not be
With thy soul, thy power, thy being of the tree.”
“A fallen leaf,
Endless grief.
For a soul lost
In yester moments brief.”
He turns away, glance back, a crumbled being.
“If thy tree could only see what thy beauty means to me.
Given thy soul, given thy heart, given thy life,
Why art thou not with me?”
Thy beauty glances back
No longer felt with thy tree.
“Thy beauty has gone away from me.
Why couldn’t I see thy one was meant for me?
Take thy soul, take thy power, take thy existence,
Only later, with thy light, with thy true love
Be intertwined with his beauty.”
There's one line that confuses me. "A battle within is a secret with out." I like it, but I don't get it. Am I right when I guess that it's saying that an internal battle is a secret to the outside world? Or something like that?
ReplyDeleteOne thing I really like about this one is how you include quotes, there are actual speakers--see, another element hinting that you should start or should continue to write stories or short stories. Ooh--short stories in verse would be awesome, too. I like it. It's like telling stories with one long poe, which is similar to this here but only longer! :)
Another special line for me "The beauty glances back/ no longer felt with thee."
